Hi! I'm Mariete, and I'm pleased to welcome you to my online corner. Let me tell you a bit more about me and my passion for electronics, computing and gadgetry.
Who am I?
My name is Mariete, and electronics is my world. From an early age, I developed a deep interest in technology and electronic devices. Over the years, I have acquired a strong self-taught background in electronics (although I also have a formal training base) and have worked in the exciting field of computer science, focusing on cybersecurity for more than three decades. My life motto is simple but powerful: "not a day without tinkering". For me, curiosity and experimentation are the driving forces that keep my passion alive.
I owe my beginnings to ham radio.
From a young age, I had a passion for electronics and technology, and at the age of 14 I decided to embark on the challenge of obtaining my amateur radio licence (although I had already been on 27Mhz for several years). At that time, the minimum age for licensing was 15, which meant I was one step ahead in my quest to explore the fascinating world of "legal" radio communications, with the "pros".
The process was not easy; the exam I faced at the age of 14 (by the time I turned 15, the minimum age for a licence, I had already taken and passed the exam) had quite a strong electronics part. However, this was a unique opportunity to test my knowledge and prove my dedication to amateur radio. I studied hard, immersing myself in the fundamentals of electronics and the regulations governing this exciting hobby.
The day of the exam arrived, and with nervousness and excitement, I answered questions ranging from the basics of electronics to the legal aspects of amateur radio to a practical test of Morse code reception. Meeting that challenge at a young age was a proud accomplishment and reinforced my commitment to this exciting community.
Amateur radio is not just about waves and frequencies; it is a gateway to a world of possibilities for connection and learning. Through this experience, I learned the importance of perseverance and curiosity in exploring technical fields.
Today, I share my knowledge and enthusiasm through this online space. My goal is to make amateur radio and electronics accessible to everyone, regardless of age. If you are considering entering this exciting world, I encourage you to do so! Amateur Radio is not just a hobby, but a vibrant community that celebrates a passion for technology and communication.
