If you have a meter running the old firmware CO2 Easy<\/strong>, you\u2019re in luck: migrate to CO2 Gadget<\/strong> It\u2019s very simple. Your sensors and wiring remain the same. You just need to flash the new firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

CO2 Gadget is the natural evolution of CO2 Easy. It retains everything you loved about the original, but adds features with notable practical improvements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compatibility: you\u2019ll need an ESP32<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

CO2 Gadget has been developed for ESP32<\/strong>, which is the microcontroller used by most of the supported boards (Wemos LOLIN D32, TTGO T-Display, TTGO T5, LilyGo T-Display S3, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your CO2 Easy is installed on an ESP32, the upgrade is straightforward: you simply need to flash CO2 Gadget onto the same board, without changing any hardware. The sensors and wiring remain exactly as they were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your CO2 Easy was installed in a ESP8266<\/strong> (NodeMCU, Wemos D1 mini, etc.), migration is not possible as it stands: CO2 Gadget requires an ESP32 due to memory, Bluetooth Low Energy and processing power requirements. The good news is that compatible ESP32 boards are very affordable (from around \u20ac5) and the sensors you already have (MH-Z19, Senseair S8, SCD30, etc.) are fully compatible: you simply need to move them over to the new board. You get to keep your investment in sensors and cabling, which is the most important part of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to migrate from CO2 Easy to CO2 Gadget<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The following steps apply to ESP32 boards. If you are coming from an ESP8266, first replace the board with an ESP32 whilst keeping the sensors and wiring in place, and then follow these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Download CO2 Gadget<\/strong> \u2014 Go to the CO2 Gadget homepage<\/a> and click INSTALL on your motherboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Connect your circuit board<\/strong> \u2014 Use a USB data cable (a charging-only cable won\u2019t work).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select \u00abErase device\u00bb<\/strong> \u2014 Before flashing, tick this box to delete the previous CO2 Easy settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Flashea<\/strong> \u2014 Tap INSTALL and select the USB port.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Configure<\/strong> \u2014 After the first start-up, configure the Wi-Fi and sensors via the menu or the WiFi Guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
