{"id":242365,"date":"2024-03-30T21:37:30","date_gmt":"2024-03-30T20:37:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emariete.com\/?p=242365"},"modified":"2024-06-17T09:21:35","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T07:21:35","slug":"co2-meter-co2-gadget-low-power-with-lilygo-ttgo-t5-epaper-and-sensor-sensirion-scd41","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emariete.com\/en\/co2-gadget-low-power-medidor-lilygo-ttgo-t5-scd41\/","title":{"rendered":"CO2 Gadget Low Power CO2 monitor with Lilygo TTGO T5 ePaper and Sensirion SCD41 Sensor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the easiest ways to have an energy-efficient CO2 meter is to use the CO2 Gadget Advanced firmware together with an ePaper and a CO2, temperature and humidity sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This combination is not the most energy-efficient possible, but it is very easy to replicate, with guaranteed results and parts are easy to source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And while it may not be the most energy-efficient combination possible, it does offer you a simple way to <strong>up to three months of battery life on a single charge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/emariete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Mi-video.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-242399\" style=\"aspect-ratio:16\/9;object-fit:cover\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Incidentally, and this may seem obvious, but it is no less important: the effect of the e-ink display, with its <strong>excellent view<\/strong> is unbelievable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-placa-esp32-lilygo-ttgo-t5\">The ESP32 LilyGo TTGO T5 ESP32 LilyGo TTGO T5 board<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is optimised for low power consumption and consists of an ESP32 microcontroller, an e-Ink display (ePaper, as the manufacturer calls it), the display controller and a battery charger, all integrated on a single board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the best features of this board (along with its low power consumption and integrated battery charger) is that it includes a 2.13\u2033 E-ink display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main advantage of e-ink displays is that they are able to keep the image on the screen without consuming power. No need to install anything on your PC.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-0a56a148\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of 2 June 2024: Support for e-ink displays is included in CO2 Gadget as of version v0.14.000 (as of 2 June 2024). The development of low power functionality is finished and is being tested by the Apha testers team at the moment. <strong>about 99 days and 7 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-actualizacion-5-de-abril-de-2024\">Update 5 April 2024<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I continue to work on optimising the energy efficiency of the meter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My efforts over the last week have focused on reducing energy during the time the meter is \"active\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the new improvements in the code, the active time (under the same conditions as the previous test) has been reduced from 7.8 seconds to just <strong>6.8 seconds<\/strong> and also the consumption during that time has dropped from 28.16mAh to <strong>23.14mAh<\/strong>.
